From the hills to the sea, trough wine, nature and food, in a UNESCO World Heritage

Road Bike Tours Italy always organizes cycling holidays (max. 7 persons). For more than 7 persons, we can customize your Tour!

This extremely unusual road bike tour in Piedmont takes us from the beautiful Langhe area to the Ligurian sea.
We start our cycling holiday going through some very famous vineyards and old villages, full of historic atmosphere, spending the week riding along peaceful back roads.
Two days cycling in the Low Langhe Area, visiting the villages that give their name to very famous white and red wines: Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera d’ Alba, Diano d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba and many more.
But this area is also well known for its delicious cuisine and local recipes with white and black truffles and many different kinds of savory cheeses.
From the third day, we leave this area and our bike tour to the sea begins.
Enchanting villages in a pristine nature, cycling on back roads far from the traffic, are waiting for us, rolling hills and at the end, the Ligurian Sea, where we ride along the road where the famous Milano-Sanremo race takes place.
All of this in a small group of 7 people at the most , always followed by our Van Assistance, staying in exclusive accommodation personally chosen by our team: a team totally focused on attention to detail to ensure the very best bike tour.

This is a perfect cycling holiday spot, a continuous up and down ride, where we start our amazing bike experience.
We stop in some of the famous characteristic villages to have a delicious “capuccino and cornetto”.
Cerreto Langhe, Monforte d’Alba, Barolo, Diano d’Alba some of these enchanting little towns where we go through peaceful back roads.
A delicious dinner tasting local organic wine closes this first day.

The Beautiful Langhe 68km

Our Bike tour today takes us in the southeast Langhe area.
Departing from Alba we head to our first town of the day: Canelli.
This area and the Asti Spumante white wine, was appointed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
Keeping on riding we meet other interesting, important old towns: San Stefano Belbo, Bubbio, Benevello and many more.
We enjoy an unforgettable cycling day, far from the traffic and deep in a fairy tale atmosphere.
We can’t miss our daily “espresso and cappuccino” in some of these old village squares.
This evening we deserve to drink a refreshing “Spritz” as an appetizer, just before a rewarding and delicious dinner.

Heading to the Sea, 72 km

Today we have to pack because our cycling road towards the Ligurian Sea is waiting for us.
Our bike tour today takes us in a different landscape, slowly we pass from the vineyard countryside to wild hills.
This area divides the Piedmont Region from the Liguria Region, we ride through rolling hills, dealing with some demanding but short ascents followed by amusing descents.
The road between Murazzano and Montezemolo, a road that runs on a hill ridge with a breathtaking view on the both sides, is really beautiful .
Millesimo, a village in the High Bormida Valley in the Regional Park of Bric Tana, is our goal today.
This evening we have a new typical dinner, we try new flavors and taste a new kind of wine.

From the Mountains to the Sea

Today our bike tour takes us in a mountain area, pedaling through some little pretty mountain villages, we get to Calizzano.
Here our ascent starts, it is 9 km long with a difference in altitude of 400 m and an average slope of 5%.
This easy ascent takes place in a beautiful beech wood that ensures a bit of cool also during the heat of the day, we ride in an Alpine atmosphere, we are in the Sea Alps area.
The Pass is at 1027 m above sea level, here we can admire some old barracks and a fortress built in 1883.
Finally, we can see the Ligurian sea, we have to deal with a technical but amusing descent.
This descent is 18km long and takes us from the pass to the beach.
As a reward for our effort, a cool “Spritz” is waiting for us on the beach.

The Ligurian Sea Loop 65Km

Another completely different cycling day.
Liguria is really famous for its extraordinary sea and beaches, but is also well-known for its immaculate backcountry full of flower crops, one of the most important products of this area.
We leave our accommodation after an energetic breakfast and start to climb up towards one of the countless tiny villages overlooking the sea.
With the mountains on one side and the sea on the other, we reach some beautiful natural terraces with a breathtaking sea view, and after a descent we can ride our last kilometers on the Milano-Sanremo road alongside the coast.
Our last dinner, in an exclusive terrace on the sea, closes this unique bike tour from Piedmont to the Sea.

The islands take their name from the aristocratic Borromeo family, who took ownership of the land in the 16th and 17th centuries. The islands of Bella and Madre were transformed into grand, luxurious residences, while the third island, named “dei Pescatori” after its age-old fishing community, was left to continue its traditional way of life.

At the top of the pass, our minibus will be waiting for us with dry clothes so we can enjoy an amusing descent towards new enchanting valleys.

In between this bike days there will be three days with the expert Valle Camonica-Adamello Mountain Guides.

They will guide us on the spectacular Sentiero dei Fiori, an easy via ferrata that goes along the Passo del Castellaccio-Passo Lagoscuro ridge ,where great battles were fought during the First World War.

We will conclude this week with two days at Rifugio Garibaldi, reaching Monte Venerocolo (m. 3136) with its magnificent view on the Adamello Glaciers, Ortles-Cevedale group, Bernina group, on the second day.

Welcome from the staff and tour presentation.

Welcome dinner.

Gavia Pass

Starting off from Ponte di Legno the first step on our tour will be the least demanding pass of the week: Gavia Pass.

This legendary road is 17 km long and with an average gradient of 7/8% and a maximum of 16%.

After we have left the town centre we pedal towards our destination going through Valle di Pezzo, where the road is wide and not yet steep.

Reaching Sant’Appallonia, an enchanting hamlet, we start with the real Gavia Pass road. At first it is still a wide road but soon it becomes a narrow mountain road. Until some years ago, this was a dirt road, but today it is well tarmacked.

Cycling here is demanding but with our guide and the always available assistance from our minibus all of us will reach today’s goal, the Gavia Pass.

After changing into dry clothes from our van and after eating biker’s snacks,we go down in an amusing descent, towards Bormio, famous ski resort where some World Ski Championship races take place.

In this eagle’s nest, great but bloody battles were fought by the Italian and Austrian soldiers during the First World War. They lived here even in the winter in hard conditions, with very low temperatures and with the threat of avalanche.

This territory is famous all over the world for its good wine, we ride between important vineyards: Berlucchi, Ca’ del Bosco, Bellavista.

Back on the road around the lake, the largest European lake island is waiting for us: Montisola.

This island became famous worldwide in 2016 when it hosted the project of Christo: The Floating Piers, a pedestrian footbridge across the lake.

Cars are not allowed on the island, so we can ride on the peaceful road alongside the lake and on the island hills, we are in the centre of the lake with a breathtaking view.

Back on the mainland we finish our loop where it started.

We come back to our hotel, in the heart of the mountain to relax on its terrace drinking a delicious Italian aperitivo.

Mortirolo Pass

Today we ride our road bike into “history”, we deal with the epic Passo del Mortirolo.

This famous ascent starts from Mazzo in Valtellina and reaches the Mortirolo Pass after 12.5 km.

The difference in height is 1300m and the average gradient is 10% with the maximum 18%.

This feature makes this ascent one of the hardest in Europe and it has became famous since it was included in the Giro d’Italia in 1990.

It was here that, in 1994, the great Marco Pantani broke free, winning the stage, and in memory of the epic endeavours of the “Pirate” a monument was placed in his honour at Km 8 on the Valtellina side in 2006.

There’s no need to worry, supported by our guide and with the minibus following us, all of us will get to the top and today we will arrive directly at Hotel Belvedere where the owners will be waiting for us with a succulent meal.

Rifugio Garibaldi – Monte Venerocolo (3323 m.slm)

First day:

After this epic ascent with our road bikes, we will have time to relax the next morning. Then, just after lunch we transfer for two incredible days in the high mountains, sleeping in a typical refuge. Always accompanied by an expert Alpine Guide, we park near Malga Lavedole (1584m.a.s.l.), from here we have to reach RifugioGraribldi (2550m.a.s.l.), this hike will take us 3 hours, we’ll walk alongside some lakes created by dams surrounded by the dramatic granite landscape.

When we reach the refuge, we can admire the majestic Adamello North Face with its glacier.

We’ll spend the night in this alpine refuge, after dinner together.

Second day:

Waking up early in the morning and after breakfast, we put on our hiking boots and head to Monte Venerocolo.

In two hours we arrive at the Venerocolo Pass (3136m.a.s.l.): here the view stretches from Pisgana glacier to Monte Presanella.

From here, climbing up through old huts used by the soldiers during the First World War, in half an hour we get to the top of Monte Venerocolo (3323 m.slm).

A fantastic view is the reward for our efforts, we can see the Pian di Neve glacier, Ortles-Cevedale and Bernina Range.

With a long descent we go back down to the minibus to transfer to our Hotel for the last night.

with a cycling day through the famous and breathtaking Chianti Hills.
These rolling hills are famous all over the world for their delicious wine.

Our road will be an easy and constant ascent, surrounded by a lot of vineyards and pristine
nature.

A typical acclaimed restaurant is waiting for us to close this unforgettable first day.

Siena – Volterra 78Km

Starting from Siena, crossing small hillside villages and with a view of the castle of Monteriggioni on the way, we reach Abbadia a Isola, which was an important stop along the Via Francigena, the ancient route that in medieval times connected Canterbury to Rome. We then continue to Castel Pietraio and Colle Val d’Elsa, an ancient Etruscan town that owes its development in the 15 th century to glass production. Pedaling, we reach San Gimignano at 324m a.s.l., in the Val d’Elsa, a small medieval town whose many towers, still intact, dominate the landscape. Finally, we arrive in Volterra, an ancient town with over 3,000 years of history. Situated in the province of Pisa, Volterra is considered, with its Acropolis, its surrounding walls and its “gates” to the historic center, one of the Italian municipalities that has best conserved its Etruscan origins. The cathedral, the imposing Medici Fortress and Palazzo dei Priori instead date back to the medieval period. And, for fans of the “Twilight” saga, it was here that the fascinating vampire Edward Cullen gives himself up to the dreaded Volturi.

Eastern part of Elba island

After breakfast and transfer by ferry from Piombino to Portoferraio on Elba Island we leave to explore the island by road bike. Green oasis of the Tuscan archipelago, Elba island is a mixture of beaches and cliffs, terraces overlooking the sea, villages perched on the hillsides with magnificent colors, flavors and fragrances that give the impression of visiting places where time has stood still. The third largest island in Italy, Elba was, thanks to its iron deposits, the heart of the Etruscan civilization and the remains of outposts and the Necropolis can still be seen today. After passing from Roman rule to that of the Ostrogoths and the Lombards the Island is full of testimonies covering thousands of years of history. And keep your eyes well open when you look at the horizon because if you see a ship flying the “skull-and-crossbones” flag it could well mean that the Ottoman corsairs, dreaded by the island’s inhabitants in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, have returned…

From the Volterraio road (Bagnaia, Nisporto, Nisportino) we will arrive in Rio dell’Elba, a typical medieval hamlet where a rushing stream worked the many mills. Soon after, continuing up the road which offers breathtaking views at every turn, we will reach Capoliveri, a beautiful medieval village perched on a hill at 167 m a.s.l.. We then return to Portoferraio, a Medici town with museums, mansions and fortresses; capital of the island, it was founded in the sixteenth century thanks to the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo I. After arriving at our hotel there will be time to check our bikes, relax and enjoy the local food for dinner.

Portoferraio – Portoferraio 81.40 Km

Western part of Elba island

The day starts with breakfast to give us energy for the day’s cycling before heading off in the direction of Procchio and the smallest municipality on the island: Marciana Marina. As we climb up through the hills, we go through the hamlet of Poggio, nestled among century-old chestnut woods, until we reach Marciana, one of the most ancient inhabited areas of the island at a height of 375m a.s.l.. Descending in the direction of the most famous beaches, we go through Chiessi, a small hamlet situated on the “Costa del sole”, to the far west of the island. Cycling towards our next stop, we reach Marina di Campo, a village situated at the foot of two hills, in the plain called Maremma dell’Elba. “Maremma” is also an area on the mainland, between Tuscany and Lazio, mentioned by the famous Italian writer Dante Alighieri in his works. Thanks to its prehistoric, Roman and Etruscan settlements, over the centuries the Maremma areas, both on the mainland and on the island, offer visitors stunning scenarios. Returning to Procchio we then arrive back in Portoferraio. An excellent dinner in the company of the group concludes our superb stay on the Island, a land of diverse landscapes which we have been able to appreciate better riding our bikes.

Three Lakes and More

Three Lakes and More

A Different Guided Bike Tour on Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Madonna del Ghisallo, Lake Iseo, Franciacorta and Mont'Isola

Road Bike Tours Italy always organizes cycling holidays (max. 7 persons). For more than 7 persons, we can customize your Tour!

Special and memorable bike tour, around the largest and most beautiful pre-alpine lakes: Lake Maggiore, Lake Como and then Lake Iseo. This trip by road bike allows us to explore these splendid Italian lakes with their picture postcard scenery, but also takes us through the nearby hills and valleys, well off the beaten tourist track. Overnight in Exclusive Accommodation.

We will have the opportunity to take routes that wind through places where nature is still unspoiled, where history seems to stand still, cycling through valleys and mountains in picturesque settings where peace and tranquility reign . Tiny villages and impressive mansions … the lakes offer us splendid landscapes. The final stop on our tour will be Montisola, on Lake Iseo, recently the setting for ‘The Floating Piers’ by the artist Christo. Accommodation has been inspected and chosen personally by our staff and, together with the excellent dinners based on local products, complement our road bike trip, without forgetting the reassurance provided by the constant presence of our minibus and technical support.

Meeting in Arona

Welcome from the staff, presentation of the bike tour, welcome drink, dinner

Arona – Santa Maria Maggiore 82km

Departure from Arona, Piedmontese town on the shores of Lake Maggiore. We ride along the entire perimeter of the lake and then get ready to face the Val Cannobina ascent. From the lake we go up to Sella di Pian di Sale which leads to the Val Vigezzo where the Cannobino stream forms deep gorges and creates evocative scenes, with the valley opening up as we ride higher. In Val Cannobina with its mountains, alpine farmsteads and pastures, we ride back in time: this wild and almost deserted valley is perfect for cycling. And there’s no need to worry about the climb because our minibus is always nearby, so we can relax as we ride through the splendid mountains of Val Vigezzo, with its green forests and evocative atmosphere all year round and, not surprisingly, it is also known as the “Valley of Painters”: portrait and landscape artists used to come here in search of inspiration. Pedaling onwards we then reach the largest and most important town in the valley: Santa Maria Maggiore, a historic village situated on a high plain at just over 800 m a.s.l. Time to relax before dinner together.

Santa Maria Maggiore – Laveno 90Km

After a nourishing and tasty breakfast “on your bikes” for a long but easy ride. After riding through Re, the last municipality of Val Vigezzo we enter Switzerland in the Canton Ticino, heading for Borgnone, then down towards Losone to reach the city of Locarno, situated on the north shore of Lake Maggiore. After our visit to Switzerland we head back into Italy from the small and charming village of Tronzano in the province of Varese. Heading for Luino we then continue along the lake for the last part of our ride to Laveno-Mombello. This important town on the eastern shore of the lake is well-known for its marina. Monte Sasso del Ferro, the mountain above the town, can be reached by cable car, and has one of the best views of the lake, as well as a popular starting point for paragliding.

Cernobbio – Dongo 64Km

After meeting for breakfast we leave by minibus for the short transfer to Lake Como. Then we will get back on our road bikes in Cernobbio, renowned tourist resort on the western shore of the lake, and ride along the lake to Argegno. Here, the Val d’Intelvi ascent is waiting for us: a mountain valley in the province of Como near the Swiss border with San Fedele at 779m a.s.l. its main town; nearby is the summit of Monte Generoso surrounded by unspoiled nature that makes an imposing landscape. Leaving the mountains we go back down to the lake to Porlezza, an important tourist resort on the shore of Lake Lugano. We continue downhill until we return to the western shore of Lake Como in Menaggio, with a superb view of the lake. Riding along the lake we end our day’s ride in Dongo, where we can enjoy the lake scenery and surrounding landscape.

Dongo – Bellagio 67 km

We leave from Dongo and, following the road along the lake, we ride through Colico Piano on the eastern shore of the lake, with its “4 Montecchi” – small hills near the lake. Our road bikes take us in Varenna where a ferry transfer us in Bellagio, here we deal with the challenging ascent that leads to the sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna del Ghisallo, the patron of all of us cyclists.

Those in the know believe that the Ghisallo, for the “Tour of Lombardy” is like Grammont for the Tour of Flanders. If you feel up to the challenge, as always accompanied by our guide, you can ride up to the sanctuary, otherwise as an alternative in just a few kilometers, you can reach our final destination for the day: Bellagio, one of the most beautiful towns of the lake with its splendid views.

Tour of Lake Iseo and Montisola

After breakfast transfer by minibus to Lake Iseo where we will start the day’s ride in Sarnico. This pre-alpine lake with its characteristic “S” shape is in both the province of Brescia (east side) and that of Bergamo (west side). Pedaling clockwise we will go through Predore and Riva di Solto and, riding along the lake, soon reach a stretch of road from where you can admire the small beaches and old lakeside road dating back to 1910 that runs right next to the lake. With hairpin bends, short tunnels carved out of the rock and a small picturesque waterfall, we reach Castro.

We then carry on to Lovere, with its colorful and picturesque alleys, ancient churches and elegant squares. Continuing along the lakeside we reach Pisogne, with its ancient medieval centre and churches with frescoes by well-known artists like Romanino, before continuing through the villages of Marone and Sale Marasino to Sulzano where we will take the ferry to Montisola, together with our bikes. Montisola is the largest lake island in Europe making it an ideal destination for a day trip on our road bikes because cars are not allowed. Some of the roads that connect the many villages are right next to the lake, others higher up. Along the beautiful lakeside road called ‘Road of Olives’, with a romantic view of the nearby island of St. Paul, we get to Sensole, from where we carry on towards Menzino and Siviano, admiring the island of Loreto which, with its neo-Gothic castle and its inaccessibility to the public, since it is private property, is the subject of legends and stories. After Carzano it’s just a short final ride along the eastern side of the island, to the small village of Peschiera-Maraglio. Montisola became famous in 2016 when it hosted the celebrated project of Christo ‘The Floating Piers’ a temporary pedestrian footbridge across the lake, from Sulzano to Montisola and the private island of St. Paul. An ambitious and almost surreal work that enabled thousands of Italian and foreign visitors to “walk on the water” of Lake Iseo, enjoying it from a totally new perspective.

After taking the ferry back to Sulzano, we pedal to Iseo, the final destination of our day’s cycling, in no time at all.

Dinner in a typical restaurant.

Great Alps

Great Alps

An epic guided bike tour.Mortirolo Pass, Gavia Pass, Bernina Pass, Stelvio Pass and Lake Como

Road Bike Tours Italy always organizes cycling holidays (max. 7 persons). For more than 7 persons, we can customize your Tour!

A week of high mountains and their great Alpine passes where Giro d’Italia legends were born. Our bikes follow the tracks of those who embarked on epic battles on two wheels: unforgettable endeavours linked to the big names in international cycling. Surrounded by glaciers, mountains and unspoilt nature, we will retrace the exploits of the great champions and our idols. We can therefore expect a week which is demanding but extremely rewarding and Road Bike Tours Italy will make this trip accessible to all participants, thanks to the constant presence of the minibus and technical guidance throughout.

Bormio, renowned and enchanting ski resort, known for hosting the Ski World Cup and home to the famous Spa, will welcome us, for a week, in the heart of the Alps on the Giro d’Italia roads. The delicious cuisine of the Valtellina awaiting us every evening will be a well-deserved reward for our efforts, in addition to the pride of having succeeded in a challenging endeavour by road bike.

Welcome from the staff and bike tour presentation.
Dinner based on local product and excellent wine from the Valtellina in a typical mountain restaurant.

GAVIA PASS

Bormio- Gavia Pass 2621m -Mortirolo Pass- Bormio  108km, 3180 m difference in altitude

Starting off from Bormio the first step on our tour will be the least demanding pass of the week: Gavia Pass. One of the highest mountain passes in Europe, it represents one of the epic climbs of the Giro d’Italia: unforgettable images broadcast around the world of exhausted cyclists in the snow in some editions of the Giro.

Starting from Bormio we head towards Santa Caterina on a wide road with substantial gradients which, as the road narrows, become really demanding. This very special ride alternates easy stretches, that allow us to enjoy the beautiful view, with demanding sections, with an average gradient of 5.4% and a maximum of 15%. After the effort of the climb, once we have reached the top and put on the protective clothing provided by our loyal minibus, we carefully face the descent to enter the province of Brescia, in Ponte di Legno, famous ski resort, in the splendid Valle Camonica. This valley is well-known for its rock etchings, prehistoric remains that led to the area becoming the first UNESCO world heritage site in Italy in 1979. On the same day the same recognition was awarded to sites such as the gardens of Versailles and the Egyptian Pyramids.

.Going down the valley we reach Monno, crossroads for Valtellina and Valtellina. Here starts a new extraordinary ascent: Mortirolo Pass.

This side of this epic pass is easier than the Valtellina side, but after have done Gavia Pass, it will be a great challenge.

Get to the top a fast down hill take us in Bormio

Our first day ends here, we load our road bikes onto the minibus, and return to Bormio to enjoy an evening in good company, with excellent local food and wine.

BERNINA PASS

Tirano – Bernina Pass 2328m – Forcola Pass 2315m-Livigno- Foscagno Pass 2291-Bormio 101km, 2878m difference in altitude

After breakfast, transfer to Tirano where the climb is, at once, rather demanding, to reach Lake Poschiavo. Here we get our breath back for a moment before getting back on our bikes to continue the climb, short of breath, but also with the constant presence of the minibus at our side, to reassure us and provide any necessary assistance. A very large difference in altitude, with an average gradient 5.5% and a maximum of 12% … but the breathtaking landscapes and fabulous scenery of the Bernina glaciers will give us the strength to conquer the Pass with our road bikes.

It is a Swiss pass that connects the Valtellina and Upper Engadine. Here we have a spectacular panoramas towards the Alpine peaks Pizzo Bernina (4049m) Pizzo Palù (3906m) and the Morteratsch (3751m) with its imposing glacier.

After this spectacular Pass we head to Livigno, a beautiful mountain village called Little Tibet too, a really famous ski resort.

The last effort takes us to Foscagno Pass where Start the descent towards Bormio .

As a reward we can expect an abundant and excellent dinner, as always based on products of Valtellina: pizzoccheri, sciatt (although the name, in Valtellina dialect, means “toads”, do not be fooled: they are delicious savory croquettes with melted cheese in the middle) polenta taragna (made from cornmeal and buckwheat flour) and bresaola, all washed down with local wines.

REST DAY – LAKE COMO- MADONNA DEL GHISALLO  85km- 600m difference in altitude

Just like professional cyclists during the big races, also our cycling team needs a more relaxing day to recover our energy. Immediately after breakfast, with the bikes on the minibus, we head for the lower Valtellina. Today’s ride is an easy trip completely on the flat. Enjoying the incomparable beauty of Lake Como, we will arrive in Varenna  and then reach Bellagio by boat.

In Bellagio starts our climb towards the famous Madonna del Ghisallo, The Patron of Cyclist.

Then we come back in Bellagio where the ferry wait for us for our transfer in Menaggio.

From there, riding on the east shores, we will conclude the day.

MORTIROLO PASS

Mazzo di Valtellina-Passo Mortirolo (1850m) – Aprica-Tirano- Bormio 101Km – 2050m difference in altitude

Full of energy once again thanks to the pleasant and relaxing previous day, after breakfast, we take the minibus to Mazzo, the starting point today. The climb par excellence is that on the Valtellina side, which stretches for 12.5 km, with a difference in height of almost 1300m and a steep but steady gradient (average 10%; maximum 18%). These characteristics make it one of the most popular but also hardest ascents in Europe; it became famous when it was included in the Giro d’Italia route in 1990. It was here that, in 1994, the great Marco Pantani broke free, winning the stage, and in memory of the epic endeavours of the “Pirate” a monument was placed in his honor at Km 8 on the Valtellina side in 2006.

Passo del Mortirolo is “the pass of all passes”, where the toughest, most important and exciting battles of the Giro d’Italia are fought. We too will have the opportunity to try out this ascent, always with the minibus for support should it be required. We return via a different route, through Trivigno, to reach the Aprica Pass. Thoroughly deserved after so much effort, a succulent dinner, as always based on the best local products, awaits us.

STELVIO PASS LOOP

Stelvio Pass 2758m – Umbrail Pass 2501m -105 km,  3100m difference in altitude

A generous breakfast will help us to face the last of our epic climbs, from Bormio to the Stelvio Pass: average gradient of 7% with peaks of 15%. This is the highest Italian pass open to motorised vehicles and connects the Valtellina with Val Venosta in the province of Bolzano. An impressive series of hairpin bends and breathtaking nature write the story of this famous climb. The grandeur and majesty of the Ortler, with its huge glaciers, will be the reward for our efforts. After getting warm clothing from our minibus we head downhill to visit the Trentino side, from Prato dello Stelvio up to the fortified town of Glorenza, a few kilometers from the Swiss border

After we passed the Swiss border, another epic ascent is waiting for us: Umbrail Pass.

From the top of this pass  we return to Bormio for our dinner to end an unforgettable week

Breakfast and departure.
